Miniature Schnauzer colors: Salt & Pepper - Black - Black & Silver. White, Parti & Liver colors are not allowed in the show ring.
A healthy Mini Schnauzer should weigh 12-18lbs and stand 12-14 inches at the withers(shoulders). Be wary of Toy/Teacup size Schnauzers. They have been bred down to achieve those sizes which can lead to health problems.
Mini Schnauzers are non-shedding and are good pets for people with allergies, since they have hair, not fur. They are not a "stinky" breed and should not be bathed too often to prevent dry skin. They are spirited, alert, quick learners, obedient, and eager to please. They can be stubborn at times, you just have to let them know who's boss :) - I think it just gives them lots of personality. They adapt to any surroundings from farm life to apartment life, they are happy to just be wherever you are.

Our puppies are started on "Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul" food. It contains quality ingredients with a better price tag than some brands. Puppies need a higher fat content, approx. 17% until they are one year. After a year Mini Schnauzers do best on a lower fat diet, ideal 10-14% and protein should be under 23%. This will help prevent pancreatitis and bladder stones.

Mini Schnauzers love to eat, please go by the guideline on the bag and only give a few extra treats throughout the day. It is best to omit table scraps, to prevent obesity and other health problems. You may boil some chicken, no seasonings, as a treat - serve with or without rice, this diet will also help with upset stomachs, diarrhea.
Please be sure you are ready for a puppy and will have the time & energy they require. Make sure you want a Mini Schnauzer, as they will follow you everywhere, even if it's a trip to the bathroom :) - They just love to be with you.
